Where
Your Money Goes
When people donate to a charity, they want to know where their money
is going. We agree, and so want to inform people how contributions
are used. Below is a list of how such charitable donations have
been put to us.
-
Purchase of clothes for children and adults;
- Delivery of donated clothes and toiletries to women in transitional
housing;
- Monthly bus passes for people with transportation needs;
- Self esteem and positive values materials for 100 children;
- Grocery market gift cards for families lacking food;
- Food for hungry families;
- Holiday meals and gift packages for families;
- Maintenance of our website, creating a virtual Resource Center
for women unable to travel; and
- Putting resource information on jobs, housing, and foreclosure
prevention into women’s hands. |
The Ruth Project
has met the most basic needs of women and children: food; clothing;
transportation; housing; and jobs. Our Mentoring Program is an on-going
resource as we work with women who struggle in the areas of low
self-esteem, abuse, or addiction. Our Life Skills and Jobs Skills
programs have also bolstered the confidence of women and provided
tangible skills for parenting, budgeting, and sustained employment.
We have also directed several women to legal resources and HUD-housing
counseling agencies, all part of the housing mortgage crisis which
has impacted both homeowners and renters.
